Genesis Winding Bike Rack

Genesis have been bringing the best British designed bikes to the market since 2006. Now with twelve years of experience, Genesis offer a truly brilliant range of bicycles to cover almost every discipline. Rugged hardtail mountain bikes, traditional and modern road bikes, classic commuters, cyclocross, tourers and some specialist machines too. The Venerable Croix de Fer frameset has been a mainstay of the Genesis range since 2009.

The Freewheel catalogue was sold throughout the UK in all newsagents and fast became the go to publication for everything cycling in the UK. The basics are there in full length mudguards, a rear pannier rack, and puncture resistant tyres. With clearance for tyres up to 38c and a steel frame that will be robust and help deaden the road chatter, this is a bike with the stamina to match your own. Prefitted mudguards and more puncture resistant city tyres are such examples. There aren’t mounting points for front or rear pannier racks; strap on bike-packing bags are the weapon of choice here.

Over time your hand might get tired (and good luck trying to carry it up stairs) but for the money it gets the job done and could be a solid option for someone willing to screw around a bit and who also fits the frame. Note that when I was test riding this bike I bumped my knee on the battery when swinging my leg over the back. Some of the low-step ProdecoTech bikes like the Stride R help eliminate this concern. These are Genesis’ entry-level road bikes and are the cheapest in their range. The geometry is a little more upright, making for a more comfortable and less twitchy ride.

But for races that are solely on roads, this should be more than adequate. The aero features of more expensive bikes are present, with cables are routed internally and the leading edges of the frame are smoothly rounded. The groupset is Shimano Tiagra with a 2×10 drivetrain while the maximum tyre size is 25c. Affordable, high power electric bike with a decent warranty but rear heavy design.

We may be able to supply a digital file of the decal you need but you will need to prove you own the bike. genesis bikes became renowned for their use of steel tubing and ethos for function over form. The first Genesis bike was produced under the Ridgeback brand as the Day One model in 2001. Due to its popularity, Genesis became a label in its own right in 2006.

An internally geared hub goes a long way to weather proofing the drivetrain, as do the full housed gear cables that help stop dirt degrading your shifting performance. Not quite mainstream, yet still hugely popular, genesis mountain bikes are a British brand loved by steel-aficionados and adventurers alike. Well thought out geometry, good looks and great handling make the Genesis Core 26.4 stand out as a great bike at a good price. The first thing you notice is that the cockpit is comfortable, it just feels right. Not too long and well balanced with none of the ‘too much weight on the wrists’ feeling that sometimes comes on trail hardtails.

Yeah… I think future ProdecoTech bikes will be better but this one (and the other rear-mount designs) just aren’t that balanced and the features are very basic. We’ve partnered with Freewheel as a solution to offer s online whilst supporting local bike shops at the same time. Each online sale supports the selected bike shop with a percentage of your sale, whether you choose to click & collect or get it delivered straight to your door. Please note that Freewheel currently only deliver within the UK at this time. As with the Day One, there are mudguards, rear pannier rack, and an internally geared rear hub for all weather dependability.

The bikes are available either with rim brakes or hydraulic discs, but there is only one spec level with these bikes. The rim brake version can take tyres up to 28c, whereas the disc version can handle 30c. The steel tubes of these endurance bikes, with their ability to dampen the road buzz, make them perfectly suited to long days out in the saddle. Pannier and mudguard mounts are also present on these frames, adding to their versatility. The external cable routing and threaded bottom brackets are also features that will be well apricated by home mechanics. There are three different spec levels, with 10 being the entry level, 20 the mid-range and 30 being the top of this range.

Simple to operate with LED console and twist throttle only, no pedal assist or LCD…… The battery powering this bike delivers ~36 volts of power and 9 amp hours of capacity. That’s kind of average and the pack is a bit heavier than some equivalent designs because it uses a Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry vs. Lithium Manganese or Lithium Cobalt. The pack is kind of large and you can actually upgrade it to be even larger if you want, just be careful over large bumps given the limited strength of just one pair of support struts vs. higher end ProdecoTech bikes.
