BISSELL is an American manufacturer of vacuum cleaners and floor care appliances. They offer a diverse selection of vacuum cleaners, ranging from compact handheld cordless vacuums to bulky corded uprights and everything in between. Most of their offerings are somewhat budget-friendly and use bagless designs, meaning that recurring costs tend to be pretty low. That said, quite a few of their more compact offerings struggle with clearing bulky debris, while their bigger corded uprights generally feel somewhat cheap. The Bissell CleanView Pet Slim is a cordless stick vacuum that doubles as a handheld cleaner, by simply removing the wand and cleaning head from the main unit. It offers two levels of suction, along with a 0.1-gallon / 0.5-liter dust canister, which is relatively easy to empty.

It isn’t as powerful as others we have tried, likely because the hose suction is so-so. Because it lacks that power, the brush can stop spinning if you apply too much pressure to it. But again, it’s surprising to find a powered attachment at all at this price. Where suction is concerned, one small feature that is a big deal is the small squeegee that Bissell added on the bottom of the vacuum, just after the brushroll. It helps the CleanView Swivel Pet make a better seal on hard floors.
In our Lab tests, it proved to have powerful suction, picking up dry oats from our test carpets and hard flooring easily. One of our consumer testers used this vacuum right after another model and found that it picked up debris that the first vacuum missed. We also found it easy to maneuver and transition from carpet to hard floors, thanks to its large wheels.
An on/off switch for the rotating brush lets you stop the brush from rotating when using tools or cleaning bare floors. This helps eliminate scattered dirt on bare floors and reduces the risk of injury if the vacuum tips over during use. It also reduces the risk of damaging a carpet or the finish of a bare floor if the vacuum sits in place at the low-height setting. I found that the vacuum worked best without any attachments for cleaning messes on the hardwood floor (unless you’re cleaning a corner, in which case you’ll want the crevice tool). It sucked up litter, fur and stray kibble easily from my wood floors. The Bissell FAQ page says that the Pet Hair Eraser lasts for 17 consecutive minutes.
