Braun Shavers Comparison & Buyer’s Guide 2024

The S3 ProSkin would be a fantastic option for a beginner or a teenage boy as well, mainly thanks to its great ergonomics and slim head. I would very much rather have the slide-out trimmer as I find it very useful for trimming and shaping my sideburns. The 3020s on the other hand works with the cord plugged in and has a trimmer. I chose the ProSkin models over the regular Series 3 for the reasons I also outlined above.

In addition to lubrication, cleaning your electric razor daily helps prolong its life. Depending on the model, foil shavers and trimmers are typically easier to clean than rotary shavers because hairs may be simply cleaned from the blade and foil with the included brush. Rotary shavers require you to detach the cutting heads from the shaver, brush off the hairs and rinse thoroughly under running water with or without some liquid soap. It’s packed with every feature you could ever want on an electric razor, plus an automatic cleaner. Billed as the world’s most efficient electric shaver, it sports a “ProLift” trimmer that gently lifts and cuts more hair and stubble in every stroke, so you can cleanly remove up to a seven-day beard.

If you have a wet and dry use shaver, you can go at your scruff right out of the shower (or even in the shower) after washing your face. Unlike shaving with a traditional razor or safety razor, an electric razor has a pretty low learning curve. But that doesn’t mean you should just take your electric razor out of the box and start zooming without first knowing how to get a close shave. We tried Philips Norelco’s lower-end rotary models but determined that the brand’s 9000 series performed better, and it was so closely priced that it was a better buy for most people. In our experience, the 4000-series razor didn’t shave closely enough to be worth their bargain prices.

But all of them are highly capable, comfortable and versatile electric shavers. Finally, we have what’s currently the flagship line of Braun electric shavers, namely the Series 9, Series 9 Pro and Series 9 PRO+. It’s a gentle and highly capable electric razor that handles longer stubble well (up to 4 days, maybe even more if your beard grows slowly).

So I think it’s a worthy shaver provided our expectations are realistic. It was particularly well suited for men with sensitive skin that shaved daily or up to every 4 days. The station would only charge the razor, but the cleaning braun shavers functionality would not work. The station would automatically clean, charge and lubricate the shaver. For example, how often you shave, how coarse is your beard and how well you take care of the razor (cleaning, lubrication).

My shaver-reticent partner has started using it too, probably because I’m the designated packer of grooming products whenever we travel, and he’s stuck with what I present him. Even then, he has a perfectly good beard trimmer to maintain his neckline (the Philips Norelco Multigroom 9000), but has opted into the shaver a few times because of my endorsement. He has curlier facial hair than me, so normally I’d suggest he try the Philips Norelco shaver, but all’s been going well with this professional-grade foil shaver instead. This one also has a useful suite of features, most notably a terrific detailing trimmer.
