Just to add – the wheel size isn’t important but the frame size is. If you’re feeling a bit stretched out on the Raleigh it could be that the frame to too big for you. Eg I’m 1.66m and ride a medium 29, but I can also ride a small depending on the frame geometry.

The stock seat was very narrow and hard. That is the seat I bought to replace the stock torture device. The new seat is about 13.5″ inches wide and the horn is a lot shorter. It is a lot more comfortable. As far as I can tell, the Malus and Dolomite are essentially the same bike, just with different rims and colors.

Wow did you see what that guy is riding? Watch as he glides over sand, dirt and snow. See the glee he has as he bounces over embankments and boings over rocks. The Mongoose Malus 26-inch fat tire bike has arrived to save you from the doldrums and put a smile on the faces of all those you pass by. Built with 4-inch tires (earning the name fat) on a supersized beach cruiser frame and there is plenty of clearance to make it rideable on virtually any terrain.

Plus, the Malus has 7-speed twist shifters and front and rear disc brakes so it still has its vein of practicality. Fat tires are all the rage and the Malus is a great bike to add to your stable, and to get out there and have a little fun on. There is nothing you can’t do on a Mongoose and almost nowhere you can’t go on the Malus. Speed across virtually any terrain with ease on the Mongoose Men’s Malus 26 in Fat Tire Bike. The front and rear disc brakes give you a practical way to stop.

You’ll be dropping the BB by about 20mm or so, but that’s not a train smash unless you’re already grazing rocks with your cranks & chainring. It’ll also reduce the inertia on the rear, as long as you’re not going heavier with the back wheel. That will make the rear more “lively” by virtue of it being easier to change direction, but not by much. Another by-product of that is that you’ll be able to lift the front more easily as it’ll have slackened out the HA by dropping the rear axle relative to the front axle. The huge SE handlebars are sweet.

Get some hoopty riser handlebars. Just gives you a better workout. I have a mongoose racing bike 7 speed Shimano thumb shifter and aluminum mountain bike pedals on the way.

I’m a large 26 but can also do a medium depending on the geometry. My front chainring was also worn, but the source of the sound was the worn teeth on the cassette. Depending on the components that you have it can be expensive. I paid R3260 to replace the whole 2 x 10 Shimano drivetrain including the front and rear brake pads. Which sounds like a lot of money until you look at the price of a new SRAM GX cassette, lol.
