For cons, there’s only 1 door in the entire 10-person tent, there’s almost no ventilation at all when it’s raining, and it also leaks within just 15 minutes of light rain. The tent is with huge mesh windows around, plus all the ceiling is mesh (see the picture below), so ventilation is not an issue in this tent. But if it is raining you will have to keep panels on the doors and windows.
With that being said, Ozark Trail does a good job of seam-sealing their tents from the factory in most cases, and with a little help, these budget-shelters can keep you dry when unexpected rain hits. Take time to treat the entire ozark trail shower tent tent with a DWR coating like Nikwax (not just the rainfly) and never leave the house without a tent repair kit in case disaster strikes. This tent is a little heavy because of the steel poles pre-attached to the tent, so I recommend having a partner to help pop up and lock in the poles. So this is a pleasant tent, designed for warm weather and summer camping. This is how it should be used and in this case you should have a great experience with this tent. This is all steel construction, so the weight mentioned above should not be a surprise.
I did not continue to set up the screen porch (which has no floor) or put the rainfly on. I did go inside the tent to stand up and not hunched over and noticed the mesh ceiling with lots of ventilation. I’m sure this tent is good during a wind storm and rain/condensation issues. While both Coleman and Ozark Trail are highly inexpensive family camping tents, this is where Ozark Trail outshines Coleman.
Screen rooms, shade awnings, storage vestibules, and privacy dividers are also great examples of livability-added features. These features all work together to make a tent feel more like your home away from home and less like a makeshift shelter in the woods. Shape wise most Ozark Trail tents either come in a cabin or dome shape. Cabin tents typically have more room inside to stretch out thanks to their high ceilings and vertical walls, so most Ozark Trail shoppers will likely want to focus on cabin tents. The Ozark Trail Yurt gets high marks for its overall interior space with 169 square feet of floor room and ceilings over 7 feet tall at their peak. That’s plenty of room for two queen mattresses with room left over for some chairs, a cooler, and a camp table.
This tent presented here may look like a rectangular structure, but in fact, it is more a Y-shape structure as the picture below (very roughly) shows. I have seen people asking about this and this is why I made the sketch of its flor plan. Such a quick setup time is due to its poles that are a) telescopic, and b) pre-attached to the tent. So as you realize from the pictures above, you unfold the structure and then extend its telescopic leg poles.
I can’t reach this either, but you should be fine if you’re a little taller. This Ozark Trail 10-Person Tent has only 2 pockets in the entire tent, and both measure about 13 inches in length and 6 inches in width, which is very tiny for such a huge tent. The length of the Ozark Trail tent is about 13 feet and 9 inches, while the width is about 9 feet and 11 inches, ozark trail instant cabin so slightly smaller than the marketed dimensions of 14 by 10 feet. Next, attach the 6 steel wall poles to the elbow connectors (the top of each pole) and to the pin at the other end (the base of each pole). It rained for about an hour while I was using this Ozark Trail 10-Person Cabin Tent, with about 20 minutes of moderate rainfall and about 40 minutes of pretty light rain. Apart from the roof though, there’s not a lot of mesh from the 5 windows and the door, because they’re not very big. The door has 2 zippers for the bug net, and 2 for the door itself. The zipper quality is not the best, it’s a little bit noisy, and it always, always snags from the outside because of this green rain cover.
