Mongoose designs BMX Freestyle and BMX Race bikes for riders of all ages and ability levels, and our bikes are trusted by some of the world’s best riders. Whether it be freestyle or race every single one of our staff is a die-hard BMXer so you know that you’re always getting the best advice. Choosing the correct size BMX bike is very important, bikes that are too large will be cumbersome and hard to manoeuvre and bikes that are too small can feel cramped and hard to keep under control.

Our mid-range race bikes are the perfect for riders who are beginning their path to competitive racing. Priced between £400 and £800 these are not quite the high-end steeds you see at national level races, but they all feature lightweight aluminium frames and are designed specifically with the racetrack in mind. Our range of entry level race bikes are perfect for first time racers, usually priced between £200 and £400 most of these are constructed of heavier steel rather than aluminium. These are great to get a feel for the sport but would not be able to keep up in a competitive environment.

Youth freestyle bikes are sized depending on the diameter of the wheel staring at 12” all the way through to 18”, at a 20” wheel the bike is considered an adult size. At first glance the Mongoose Title Elite is a nice looking bike out of the box. Some of the key features include; BB86 bottom bracket shell, tapered headtube, lightweight 6061 butted alloy frame, 4130 cromo forks and bars, 24mm 2 piece alloy cranks. Whether you need a well priced bike to get you on the track with the kids or you are looking for something that you can upgrade as budget allows the Mongoose Title Elite is definitely worth a look. As soon as these hit the ground there were proud owners upgrading their parts to build some very impressive bikes. I’m surprised we didn’t see more of it here in Australia to be honest.

The Pro XXL frame was the right length for me but there was a significant difference in the handlebar, stem and crank sizes compared to what I use. Sure I could have changed a few mongoose fat bike parts around but instead I passed it off to bmxultra.com team pilot and BMX guru Paul Knox. He was very interested, not only as a complete bike, but also as an OS20 conversion.

This means that certain tricks are harder to perform, especially those that rely on pedal pressure, for example Tire Taps. If you are looking to into BMX racing and you’re in the market for a new bike, you don’t want to go entry level but you don’t want to over commit either, the Mongoose Title Elite could be exactly what you are looking for. The Mongoose Title Elite is a great place to start with plenty of potential. The Mongoose Legion L60 Bike is a good entry level BMX bike for someone on the slightly taller side. The main difference between the two is the way the bike performs when going backwards.

The latest line of BMX race bikes, the Title series, has been designed using that same race pedigree. The 30mm profile rims, optimised for use outdoors in blustery conditions or so we’re told, will come in both 20” and 24” and are tubeless ready. Beside the fact that we’re hearing rumours of major brands having trouble keeping the tire on the rim during ‘elite level’ corner testing, we still like the idea of tubeless race bikes.
