Hyper BMX Signature Complete Bike Ryan Williams

One company, Hyper Bike Co., aims to increase market access to e-biking by providing reasonably priced and decently equipped electric bikes. We previously talked about its E-Ride eMTB, which retails for just $1,500 USD. Now, it’s entering the world of urban commuting with the Ultra 40. Great for intermediate riders ready to improve their skills and have fun riding with friends.

The bike can be ridden on a variety of surfaces, allowing for flexibility in where you go with it. Perfect for experimenting with tricks or weekend rides, the hyper-spinner BMX bike will help make your rides more enjoyable. Forget everything you thought you knew about e-bike performance. The updated HyperScrambler 2 with DUAL BATTERY CAPACITY, features an insane 100+ riding range, extreme speed and power, and loads of upgraded electric bike components.

With 21 speeds, a comfortable Shimano twist shifter, and Shimano rear derailleur, you’ll have no problems changing gears quickly and smoothly. With a three-piece, high-performance crank and standard pedals. This awesome mountain bike is equipped with a plush MTB seat, so your backside will stay comfortable on long rides.

Right off the bat, Hyper says that the Ultra is, well, ultra-versatile. It is the kind of electric bicycle made to be used both on roads and on light off-road terrain. It gets a suspension fork and fat, knobby tires which give the bike a rather rugged aesthetic. That being said, it’s obviously very far from an electric mountain bike, and clearly has commuting duties in mind. “Since 1993 Lizard Skins has created products to meet the needs and wants of cyclists around the world. With a wide variety of cycling products, from its well-known chainstays to its gripping bar tape, Lizard Skins has everything you need to make the most of your ride. Our mission is to protect the bike and rider while making the ride more enjoyable.”

Hyper claims a rather lackluster 20 miles of range on a single charge, but given the bike’s super affordable price tag, you’ll probably have some spare cash left over to buy an extra battery, or you know, a bunch of energy drinks to get you ready to pedal the rest of the way home. Hyper Bicycles, Inc. was established in 1990 by former BMX Pro Clay Goldsmid. Initially the company produced high end BMX Racing frames and components. Hyper Bicycles also established an ongoing commitment to supporting riders and the sport through sponsorships of individuals and teams. Hyper has since become a major player in the bicycle mass market, and in specialty sporting goods offering BMX Bikes, Mountain Bikes, and other products to a wide range of consumers. The Back tire isn’t fitted in place correctly and is slightly too high up on the rear tire axle shaft.

A few problems I found with the bike are as follows-

First, I don’t like how the handle bars are designed because you need a wrench to tighten them up and put them on. This is slightly annoying because other than the tires, everything else is assembled using hex keys (also known as an allen wrench). I would have prefered if the handlebars required Hex keys because you could use a multi-tool to quickly make adjustments while riding without needing any other items, but as it is now I always have to carry an adjustable wrench with me. The wrench built into my multi-tool is made for tires, so it is slightly too large to fit and adjust the handlebars because they used another type of bolt like screw for it. This is a minor problem because I just added a wrench to my backpack repair kit and moved along. We stand by all our products and offer a 2 year warranty on our Lún Hyper wheels.

It appears to be tightened in place and secure by the nut screw, but it creeps me out a bit that if the nut were to unscrew a bit the tire would fly out…. I tried to unscrew it and snap it in place, but the machine that put the nuts on really did a job and got that thing on really tight, so I decided to leave it alone. The last and probably the biggest problem was that there was no quick release for the bike seat, it was missing from the set.

Made by Hyper Bicycles, established by former BMX pro Clay Goldsmid. I was a bit surprised by this because the manufacturer should have sent us the part since the bike was just ordered brand new and we had the order number and receipt. Most products have at least a 30 day warranty that covers basic damage or defects, and the seat not having the adjustable quick release lever for the is clearly a manufacturing defect because it was missing a key component to building and riding the bike, without it you literally cannot sit down to ride the bike.
