It was helpful that I happened to have a hammer to pound the eight stakes into the hard ground. I am all about saving a few bucks with Walmart’s camping gear. I’ve had great luck with the Ozark chairs, sleeping pads, and other basic camping items. These products are overpriced at name brand stores like REI. You are paying for marketing, not quality. You are buying the idea of being some cool, unique, outdoor person.

My Ozark tent was set up in my wooded acerage all summer long. I was so pleased with the quality that I upgraded and bought a bigger Ozark tent. I am very pleased with the quality of these tents.
The short pole supplied for that protrusion splintered in two places and poked about four small holes in the black fabric of the laundry bubble. Rather it should have been a large pocket on the inside of the tent that requires no pole at all. The Ozark Trail 8×8 Instant Sun Shade did exactly what we needed it to. It kept us out of the sun when we didn’t want to be in it.
They are the sorriest tents I have ever bought. I have exchanged two tents after the first use, even those leaked. It is a waste of good money to be throwing away on tents. I could have used a bed sheet and stayed drier.
One person needs to be inside to help hoist up the tent and hold it in place while you force the poles into the ring-&-pin holders. The netting has many flaws in it (not a nice smooth texture as in better quality tents). I guess if you have kids that want to play ozark trail sun shelter in it, it would be fine. The first one I set up was in the fall (supposed to be a 3-season). It snowed a few inches and it completely caved in breaking all the shock-corded fiber glass poles. Even when you set it up you can actually hear the poles crackling.
