The huge wheels have excellent grips and, combined with the glide handle, allow you to easily tow the ice chest over rough terrain. In addition to the mobility aspect, there are tons of other awesome features that very few other coolers can say that they have. This includes igloo trailmate things such as a butler try, storage pocket, built-in bottle openers, food basket, optional LED light, and more. With Trailmate Marine, nothing gets in fun’s way when you’re out on the water. We built our up-for-anything cooler so it’ll easily roll where you want it.

The Igloo Trailmate Journey 70 Qt Cooler ($279.99) uses Cool Riser Technology® which enhances the cooling performance by elevating the cooler body away from hot surfaces. It also boasts tie-down hooks (using bungee cords or rope, which is not included) and this gives you more carry options, making it easy to haul things like towels, quad chairs or a surfboard to your destination. Our rugged Trailmate cooler has oversized, all-terrain wheels and a sturdy telescoping handle, so you can easily and smoothly roll it to your destination. In no event will Free Delivery benefits be available to you if reside outside the delivery service area of a Participating Beta Test Program Retailer. We like both products and feel that it boils down to the individual.

The combination of the huge wheels, eye-popping aluminum framing, and progressive paint job makes this a really attractive ice chest. You have a few colors to choose from and we think that all of them look great. But where the Trailmate shines is in igloo trailmate its mobility and features. There isn’t anything that Yeti offers that can match Igloo in these areas. Also, despite all of these additional features, you will still find that the Trailmate is typically more affordable than a similarly-sized Yeti.

Igloo states that their Trailmate Line has up to 4 days of ice retention. Compared to premium rotomolded coolers with huge gaskets and aggressive latches, 4 days would not be anything amazing. For most people, having enough ice to last for a long weekend is more than enough.

However, this claim is easily defended considering the superior ice retention and the included features/accessories. Igloo’s rugged Trailmate Journey also has oversized, all-terrain wheels so you can haul your goods across pavement, sand and grass. Its spacious 70-quart capacity fits up to 112 cans (that’s a lot of Bud Light) and keeps beverages cold for more than three days. There’s an interior food basket that keeps food suspended above the drinks so that sandwiches don’t get wet and nasty. We took a deeper look into the cooler that is currently selling out online, so you don’t have to. With its impressive ice retention capabilities powered by Igloo’s eco-friendly Thermacool technology and a host of convenient features, it will easily become your favorite tailgating companion.

In our testing, the Trailmate crushed these numbers with 8 days of ice retention. Every day during our test, the lid temperature of the Trailmate was 100°+. To be fair, the cooler was filled to capacity with ice, as we do with all of our ice retention tests. However, 4 days should be easily attained with a decent amount of ice used. The 70 is the best rolling cooler for the money we have tested to date. This is a pretty bold statement considering we have reviewed a ton of wheeled coolers in the past.

If you are simply after an ice chest with the longest ice life and most impressive build quality (and have a very large budget), then stick to Yeti. But if you need something more mobile and plan on doing a lot of entertaining, the Trailmate should be on your list. The next most notable feature is the glide handle that also doubles as a butler tray. This feature is something that you will find on very few other coolers on the market and it is a great way to stand out from the crowd while having a nifty feature. Born from a modest metalworking shop back in 1947, Igloo has been instrumental in redefining how we live, work and play. What began with bringing clean water to the worksite quickly moved into super-functional, best-in-class ice chests.
