Even the term e-bike sounded gimmicky enough for me to want nothing to do with them — it’s like how everything these days comes with the label of smart. The schwinn ebike Schwinn Ridgewood launched recently in the electric bike market. Firstly, it is a relatively expensive purchase compared to other options on the market.
I had my 5’3″ daughter try the bike, and she found it too tall for her. Schwinn has been a large name within the bike industry for over a decade. Of course, some of that weight is in the 288-watt battery which Schwinn adversities as being good for up to 35 miles of range. We’ll get into the range in a moment, but the rest of the bike is fairly standard fare for any bike. You get a 7-speed gear system on the rear wheel with a single gear on the front. The shifter is on the right handlebar opposite the LED display for the motor on the left.
To be fair, not many competing e-bikes tend to come with these extras anyway, so with its comparatively low price, you’ll have extra money to pick out the accessories you want. Instead of fumbling with it myself, I go to my favorite local bike shop, Spin Bicycle Shop, in Lansing, Michigan. For $70, the shop put my new Schwinn e-bike together and offered to make any tweaks after I rode it for a little bit. Most of us have grown up with some exposure to the Schwinn brand.
The integrated lights are an added bonus, ensuring that you can ride safely at night. The bike arrived in a standard bike box, but that was housed within an even larger outer box to protect the contents.
