The bike should have an estimated range of 18 miles without pedalling. The features like the neat integrated lighting are rarely seen in the industry and are a definite schwinn ebike win. And the build quality feels like it should stand the test of time. Schwinn’s electric bicycle line has significantly expanded over the last couple years.

The Marshall has a 6061 aluminum frame with internal cable routing, along with JAK 7 mechanical disc brakes with a 180mm front rotor and 160mm rear rotor. At the front of the Schwinn Marshall is a 27.5”, Hi-Ten steel fork with 100m travel. This offers plenty of cushion for off-road riding, or in case you hit any potholes on the way to work. Its 288 Wh battery is internally housed in the downtube and can power the Marshall for 35 miles per charge (which takes just 4 hours). The motor is a 250W brushless geared hub drive motor, and you can control all the power from the 7-function LCD controller. Never before has an electric bike been as easy to use as one of the four Schwinn electric bikes.

Lastly, the Marshall comes with integrated LED frame light and headlight, but with just a battery taillight. A removable battery allows extra batteries to be used, extending the range of the bike. In terms of pricing, this is not the cheapest e-bike you can buy. But it’s one of the least expensive ones you can buy from a bike company.

The integrated lights are an added bonus, ensuring that you can ride safely at night. The bike arrived in a standard bike box, but that was housed within an even larger outer box to protect the contents. It took me about an hour to unpack the bike, remove all the protective packaging and then assemble it. The one potential problem is the weight of the bike, with the rear hub motor (from CZJB motor maker) and the in-frame battery already in place.

Secondly, the display is quite simple for a bike in this price range. Lastly, there may be some limitations when it comes to steep surfaces, so keep that in mind if you plan on tackling hilly areas. The battery is a 288 watt-hour battery built with cells which takes about 4 hours to charge. The Marshall looks like a mountain bike with a comfy cruiser feel to it.

So grab your helmet, hop on the Ridgewood, and cruise around with ease. All three of the new Schwinn ebike models have step-thru and standover versions, 20mph speed limit and 250-watt brushless geared hub drive motor. Its throttle was so lackluster and slow — especially when compared with other bikes of a similar price class — that it sometimes didn’t feel like it was powered at all. Once you’re up to speed and cruising on a flat surface, the ride quality feels smooth and reasonably quick, but the motor struggles up moderate hills. And when it comes to serious hills, the Coston gets left far behind other e-bikes. These bikes are built well and offer lifetime warranties, so you know you’ll get a long-lasting product.

Additionally, the battery is integrated into the downtube, resulting in a lower center of gravity and a more stable ride. It’s fascinating to see that Schwinn has taken special care not to alter the bike’s vintage appearance when integrating its tech features. Schwinn made the decision to fit the battery array neatly into the schwinn ebike luggage rack at the back rather than to make any changes to the frame tubes. This indicates that there are no longer any large components on the frame that you need to avoid with your knees. Additionally, adding batteries to frames necessitates new manufacturing techniques, which will certainly drive up the cost of the bike.

To be fair, not many competing e-bikes tend to come with these extras anyway, so with its comparatively low price, you’ll have extra money to pick out the accessories you want. Instead of fumbling with it myself, I go to my favorite local bike shop, Spin Bicycle Shop, in Lansing, Michigan.
