Cuisinart Air Fryer Toaster Oven Review: The Low Down on Agatha Crispy

Breville leveraged its partnership with ChefSteps, the brand that first introduced the Joule sous vide, to make an app (for Apple and Google) loaded with air fryer recipes and videos. The Ninja DT201 Foodi 10-in-1 XL Pro Air Fry Toaster Oven has a surprisingly noisy convection fan that can’t be turned off, making this model more strictly an air fryer than a toaster oven. That said, you may want to clear some space on your countertop for this large air fryer.

I add zero oil, or just a little drizzle of olive oil to veggies or chicken. So you use way less oil and it’s fried in air vs…(you guessed it) oil. The tray is still easy enough to clean but the residue isn’t cute. Because there’s a tray below the basket, the rest of the oven stays very clean.

Air fryer toaster ovens are designed to work like the best toaster oven or countertop oven with the additional benefit of air frying. Additionally, we used an AI-powered analysis tool to scan 6,500-plus customer reviews of 12 air fryer toaster ovens to identify what made some models better or worse than others. We also took informal polls on Twitter and Instagram to find out more about what people like to cook in their pod-shaped air fryers and air fryer toaster ovens.

As I used the Cuisinart, I especially liked that I could simply look through the window to check on the food rather than pressing a pause button and pulling out a basket as I had to do with the egg-shaped air fryers. The window helped me avoid overcooking foods and assess whether I needed to adjust the rack or rotate the food. The digital controls are intuitive to program and there’s a bright oven light, but I do have one major quibble. The manual doesn’t have any recommendations for what, how much, or how long to cook various foods. This may not be a problem for baking or roasting, but if you’re new to air frying, you’re on your own. After drooling over several of the recipes included in the product manual, I landed on blueberry muffins – a classic.

There was a good amount of condensation build up from steam while the chicken roasted — which made me nervous the skin would be flabby — but at about 45 minutes I had two golden, crispy and tender chicken breasts. The baking/drip pan was easy to clean and there was no sign of grease on the bottom of the appliance. Since this is a relatively new category of appliances, the manual is critical in getting started. We checked to see if each explained how to use the product thoroughly, provided guidelines for cooking specific foods, and included recipes. During testing, we considered each product’s size, construction, design, and safety.

However, you can give voice commands through Alexa or Google Assistant over Wi-Fi. The Gourmia excels at toasting bread and turning out a crisp-crusted pizza. Yet, it was only serviceable at baking biscuits, browning them unevenly on top and barely at all cuisinart toaster costco on the bottom. It broiled chicken breasts quickly, but didn’t give them much color. Foods like frozen French fries and chicken nuggets cook up brown and crispy. However, with homemade recipes, you’ll see less even coloring and get a lighter crunch.

They’re awaiting your next meal at any time, take up minimal space but pack all the punch you need for everyday bites, and they can tackle nearly every job. The proof setting offers a low temperature range from 80 to 100 degrees F (for up to 2 hours). Directions advise that the first proof should be done at room temperature and then the dough is to be divided, shaped and proofed in the TOA-65. This was a little disappointing and I was not able to fit all my dinner rolls on the baking pan for their second proof. While this is a seemingly nice feature it doesn’t really solve a problem.

Mostly that’s because of how tiny the holes in the wiring are, so it requires a detail-oriented attack. We also love that it allows you to really control the cooking time, temperature, and function instead of having to rely on preset programs like other ovens we tested. I was initially skeptical about Cuisinart’s TOA-65 Air Fryer Toaster Oven. Its roughly 17 x 22 x 16 inch size seemed too large to merit space on my counter, and I couldn’t imagine myself luging it out of a cabinet to toast a bagel or air fry onion rings. However, as I tested each of its seven features, my judge-y disposition faded; every setting nailed it — from toast to French fries.

Breville doesn’t sell replacement parts for any of the oven’s internal components.

Many home ovens now have convection technology, or even special “air fry” settings. We’ve tested a full-size convection oven against a pod-shaped air fryer and a convection toaster oven, and found you can get similar “air fried” results. But because a full-size oven is so much larger than a toaster oven or a pod-shaped air fryer, it can take longer to preheat and to cook food. Some manufacturers (like GE) have even started offering “no-preheat” air fry settings, though we have yet to test those against our air fryer or air fryer toaster oven picks.
