Coleman® 4-Person Sundome Camping Tent for Adults

Because of the no-frills approach to this tent build, pitching the Sundome only took 5 minutes and 43 seconds. Coleman chose not to use grommets like the rest of the tent world and instead attached a pin on every corner that slides inside the pole. Packing the tent back up into the bag isn’t very hard either.

I did have a bit of mist blow in through the ends, since the rain fly doesn’t actually come too far down the tent. As I said earlier, I haven’t had this tent in a bad storm coleman sundome yet, I think heavy winds would possibly blow more rain in and make water inside the tent an issue. The storage bags for the poles, stakes, and tent are all great.

However, coming in at 9.8 lbs with 63 sq ft of tent space, a family of four can certainly make due. The easy and simplicity of set up also makes the Coleman Sundome a smart choice for family camping trips. Not only does it cut down set up time and leave more time for enjoying your trip, teaching kids to set this tent up is made easy thanks to the design. Although this simple dome-style tent comes with a convenient carry bag which makes it easy for car camping, it’s a little too heavy to be used for backpacking. At almost 10 pounds, it would be too heavy for carrying over long distances.

I like the make of the storage bag, it is zippered instead of being made like a stuff sack with a draw string. With the zipper open it is easy to fit the tent, poles and stakes back inside. James has been escaping to the outdoors for as long as he can remember. This first started in family camping trips but soon turned into adventure camps and hiking through the Scottish Hebrides.

The 4-Person Sundome® Dome Tent is ideal for camping in warm weather with large windows and a ground vent that help push warm air up and out to keep you comfortable. When choosing the best tent for your needs, getting advice from experienced campers and outdoor enthusiasts can help you make an informed decision. Coleman Sundome is a popular choice amongst experienced campers due to its weather protection features, such as welded seams, reinforced PE bathtub bottoms, adjustable vents, and inverted seams. Additionally, the tent offers plenty of interior room, making it perfect for taller individuals.

While the tarp-like material on the bathtub floor didn’t allow water to soak through, the rest of the tent’s construction was a major let-down. We experienced one moderately rainy night in the Sundome and awoke to find a number of puddles on the inside of the tent coleman screen tent floor. Our best guess is that the water ran down the rainfly, made contact with the tent body, and then proceeded to leak through the seam where the wall is sewn to the bathtub floor. All in all, we were pretty disappointed in its wet weather performance.
