Coleman Sundome 6 Person Dome Tent 2000036889

The Coleman sundome 4 person tent is not just for newcomers looking for a budget beginner model. Even for more seasoned campers, perhaps looking for a second versatile tent for storage space, this Coleman offers amazing value to meet their needs. The 4-person version of the Coleman sundome tent is affordable and easy to set up, making it a fantastic option for new campers. In addition to the various capacities, Coleman also makes the unique and rather intriguing Dark Room Sundome. Built using the same structure as the standard model (it’s only offered in 4P and 6P sizes), the design utilizes a special fabric on the tent body and rainfly that blocks a claimed 90% of light. For one, it has serious potential appeal among late sleepers or parents that are hoping to enjoy an uninterrupted cup of coffee in the morning.

And although it has a rather durable floor and a decent choice in materials for the canopy and rainfly, the vulnerable fiberglass poles give cause for concern. In addition, Coleman’s somewhat infamous build quality gives the Sundome a questionable lifespan. However, for occasional use this tent should serve its intended purpose.

We would have loved to see internal dividers like those found on the REI Kingdom bags, but those likely would have raised the price of the Coleman. While the tarp-like material on the bathtub floor didn’t allow water to soak through, the rest of the tent’s construction was a major let-down. We experienced one moderately rainy night in the Sundome and awoke to find a number of puddles on the inside of the tent floor. Our best guess is that the water ran down the rainfly, made contact with the tent body, and then proceeded to leak through the seam where the wall is sewn to the bathtub floor. All in all, we were pretty disappointed in its wet weather performance.

Although we cannot cite any breakages with these poles, we are always hesitant when they are utilized since fiberglass is much less forgiving than aluminum. Whereas aluminum can be bent back into place when sustaining too much pressure, fiberglass will simply snap and be rendered unusable. A few features on the tent had somewhat questionable build quality, such as plastic clips and less than elegant zippers.

I like the make of the storage bag, it is zippered instead of being made like a stuff sack with a draw string. With the zipper open it is easy to fit the tent, poles and stakes back inside. James has been escaping to the outdoors for as long as he can remember. This first started in family camping trips but soon turned into adventure camps and hiking through the Scottish Hebrides.

Because of the no-frills approach to this tent build, pitching the Sundome only took 5 minutes and 43 seconds. Coleman chose not to use grommets like the rest of the tent world and instead attached a pin on every corner that slides inside the pole. Packing the tent back up into the bag isn’t very hard either.

We’ve looked at every size of this tent in detail as well as some other popular tents from Coleman to give you as well-rounded an analysis as possible. Manufacturer warranties are available on select products, email with any questions. Good quality, everything works well and in good condition. Overall Its a good quality tent and it will serve you well. After spraying each corner for about five minutes, two of the four corners leaked.

The 6-Person Sundome® Dome Camping Tent has large windows and a ground vent to help push heat up and out to keep you comfortable when camping in warm weather. You’ll also enjoy plenty of headroom for stretching out thanks to a 6-foot center height. This coleman instant tent 2 person tent review is about an enormously popular tent. This is a nice tool to use in relatively dry conditions and for occasional outdoor excursions and camping with a car access.

However, coming in at 9.8 lbs with 63 sq ft of tent space, a family of four can certainly make due. The easy and simplicity of set up also makes the coleman screen tent a smart choice for family camping trips. Not only does it cut down set up time and leave more time for enjoying your trip, teaching kids to set this tent up is made easy thanks to the design. Although this simple dome-style tent comes with a convenient carry bag which makes it easy for car camping, it’s a little too heavy to be used for backpacking. At almost 10 pounds, it would be too heavy for carrying over long distances.
