Hand-picked repair services that keep you riding

Explore, search and compare thousands of the world’s best mountain bikes here on Mountain Bike Database. Gravel bikes are what everyone wants right now, says Erin Fagan, the events coordinator (and more) at Genesis Bicycles in Easton. For Erin, being so close to the trail is a huge advantage since beginners are nervous riding on the road with cars. The cockpit felt a little cramped and we found that our knees clashed with the bars round tight hairpins. Grip out back is reliable rather than amazing and a determined effort will see you up pretty much any hill.

The Vapour is Genesis’ CX race machine and there are three models available (10, 20 and 30). There’s the option of having a full carbon frame at the higher end of the spec too, or a more affordable version with an aluminium frame and carbon fork. The Equilibrium and Equilibrium Disc are also endurance/sportive-focused bikes, and come with a steel frame and carbon fork. The steel makes for a super comfortable ride, while the carbon reduces some of the weight. Giant is the largest manufacturer of quality bicycles in the world.

Due to its popularity, Genesis became a label in its own right in 2006. Finally, the Columbia Rd is a beautiful step-through with a low maintenance and practical 8-speed internal hubgear. Perfect for pootling around town, plus the twin top tube adds a touch of elegance. For commuters and city-dwellers, Genesis has several bikes to choose from.

These steel-tube endurance bikes are perfect for long highway rides because they reduce road noise. These frames can accommodate panniers and mudguards, increasing their genesis bicycles versatility. The exterior cable routing and threaded bottom brackets will please mechanics. Almost the antithesis of the Day One, the Flyer is sublime in its simplicity.

Finally, if you want to build your absolute dream machine, the Volare and Volare Disc framesets are available in both Reynolds 853 and 931 tubing options. Next up is the endurance-focused Zeal, which is full carbon, so you can ride longer and faster with less effort. If you’re a roadie, Genesis has a few models for genesis bicycles you to consider. They have a program called BikesGiving where they ask customers to log their miles over the course of a year. When everyone turns in their miles on October 31, Genesis gives a penny per mile to a charity that’s hyper-local. Last year, the Children’s Home of Easton received a check for $2,460.

The rim brake version can take tyres up to 28c, whereas the disc version can handle 30c. As the name suggests, these are bikes that are designed for the explicit purpose of riding on the road. Some are more race oriented, meaning mudguard and pannier mounts are forgone and the geometry is longer and lower. Others have more of an endurance focus, better suited to long rides and have all the mounts you need for light cycle-touring. With its steel frame and carbon fork, asymmetrical chainstays and 650b wheels with gargantuan 50c tyres, it’s perfect if you want a bike that will take you anywhere, but don’t want a mountain bike.

Some bikes (such as the Fugio) are more oriented towards the rough stuff, whereas others (such as the Croix de Fer) are better suited to carrying loads. These are the dedicated carbon race bikes, as ridden by the (now disbanded) UCI continental team Madison Genesis. The frame has internally routed cables for better aerodynamics and a wide section down tube for better torsional stiffness. The frame is also compatible with Shimano Di2 internal routing. In this range there are also women’s specific models – in addition to the unisex ones. With these bikes, the saddles have been changed for a women specific model as well as shorter cranks and narrower handlebars being specced to better suit female proportions.

You can see our work for Giant in the grueling Tour de France, on Tokyo commuter streets, and in a garage much like your own. Versatility still pervades the frame, with downtube bottle bosses and mounts for a rear rack and mudguards. Although this bike can take on the commuting duties or a bit of cycle-touring, it is more suited to lively riding in the woods and on bridleways.
